The national framework — RD 1155/2024
Every Spanish consulate applies one national framework (RD 1155/2024, in force 20 May 2025). The core rules: your passport must be valid for at least 1 year from the application date; you need an admission letter plus proof that tuition has been paid in full at an authorised (Instituto Cervantes / SIELE / SACIC) school; proof of funds of 100% of IPREM — €600.00/month (€7,200/year), frozen at this level 2023–2026; health insurance from a DGSFP-authorised Spanish insurer; and, for stays over 180 days (age over 16), a criminal-record certificate and a medical certificate. The Extranjería office decides within 30 days, and the consulate issues the visa within 1 month of a favourable stay authorisation.
Provinces under Nador Consulate General jurisdiction
The Nador Consulate General covers Morocco's Oriental region plus the Al Hoceima area — seven provinces in total. If you are resident in one of these provinces, you file your student visa in person at the BLS Nador office.
Not on this list? If you live outside these seven provinces, your application goes through a different Spanish post in Morocco — Rabat, Casablanca, Tánger, Tetuán or Agadir — depending on your province of residence. You cannot apply in Nador if you live in another consulate's jurisdiction.
Document checklist
For language courses, university degrees, master's programmes, and other full-time study lasting more than 90 days. Bring originals plus photocopies of every document, sorted in the order requested at the BLS office.

National visa application form
Completed and signed. Moroccan posts typically request two copies. Available in Spanish; download or collect at the BLS office.

Recent colour photos, 3×4 cm, white background. Two are usually required.

School acceptance letter + proof of paid tuition
From an authorised school holding Instituto Cervantes (SACIC) accreditation. Must state the programme name, start and end dates, and confirm that tuition has been paid in full. Moroccan posts are explicit that without proof of paid tuition the visa is not issued. A letter confirming admission or a deposit only is not sufficient (RD 1155/2024).

Proof of financial means
Evidence of at least 100% of IPREM — €600.00 per month (€7,200 per year). Where family members accompany you, an additional 75% IPREM for the first and 50% IPREM for each further member is required.

Spanish health insurance
Must be from a DGSFP-authorised Spanish insurer, with full cover of at least €30,000, no copayments and no waiting periods. Standard travel and Schengen policies are not accepted. You can verify an insurer at rrpp.dgsfp.mineco.es.

Proof of accommodation in Spain
Hotel reservation, signed lease agreement, or a letter from the school confirming the accommodation address.

Criminal record certificate Stays over 180 days
Required for stays over 180 days (applicants over 16). In Morocco this is the Bulletin n°3, obtained from the National Centre of Criminal Record or a local first-instance court (online portal casierjudiciaire.justice.gov.ma). Must cover every country you have lived in over the last 5 years, carry the Hague Apostille, and be accompanied by a sworn Spanish translation. Not older than 3 months at submission.

Medical certificate Stays over 180 days
Required for stays over 180 days. Issued by a doctor from the consulate's approved list, using the standard wording that the applicant is free of any disease that could pose a public-health risk under the International Health Regulations (2005). Requires Apostille + sworn Spanish translation. Not older than 3 months.

Moroccan ID / residence proof
Moroccan nationals: copy of the national identity card (CIN) and family book. Non-Moroccan residents: copy of a valid Moroccan residence permit proving you live in one of the seven Nador-jurisdiction provinces.
Foreign nationals resident in Morocco: documents issued abroad must carry the Hague Apostille and be translated into Spanish by a sworn (jurado) translator before submission — even documents from your home country.
Apostille + sworn translation — the correct sequence
Morocco is a Hague Apostille country. For the Bulletin n°3 (criminal record) and the medical certificate, follow this exact sequence:

Obtain the original document
Bulletin n°3 from the National Centre of Criminal Record or a first-instance court (portal casierjudiciaire.justice.gov.ma). Medical certificate from a doctor on the consulate's approved list.

Get the Hague Apostille
The competent authorities in Morocco are the King's Public Prosecutor at the Court of Cassation, the public prosecutors at courts of first instance, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Justice, and the walis/governors of prefectures and provinces.

Sworn Spanish translation
Have the apostilled document translated by a MAEC-accredited sworn (jurado) translator into Spanish.

Submit
Original + Apostille + Spanish translation, plus photocopies of each. Both the document and the Apostille must be no older than 3 months at submission.

The national student-visa fee is €80 equivalent. Note the figure 881 MAD that appears on some Moroccan visa pages is the Schengen (short-stay) reference, not the national student fee — don't confuse the two. I live in Oujda — do I apply in Nador? +
Yes. Oujda (Uxda) is one of the seven provinces under the Nador Consulate General. You file your student visa in person at the BLS Nador office.
Is the student visa fee 881 MAD? +
No. 881 MAD is the Schengen (short-stay) reference figure. The national student visa fee is €80 equivalent. On top of that, BLS charges a 182 MAD service fee per application. Confirm the exact dirham amounts when you file.
Do I need a criminal record and medical certificate? +
Only for stays over 180 days (and if you are over 16). For those stays you need the Moroccan Bulletin n°3 and a medical certificate, each apostilled and accompanied by a sworn Spanish translation, and each no older than 3 months at submission.
Where do I get the Apostille in Morocco? +

How much money do I need to show? +
The national requirement is 100% of IPREM — €600.00 per month, or €7,200 per year. This figure has been frozen at that level for 2023–2026. Accompanying family members add 75% IPREM for the first and 50% IPREM for each additional member.
Do I get a residence card after arriving? +
For stays over 6 months the visa is valid for 365 days, and you must apply for your TIE (foreigner's identity card) within 30 days of arriving in Spain, at the provincial police station.
How early should I apply? +
Apply at least 3–4 months before your course start date. The consulate issues the visa within about 1 month of a favourable stay authorisation, but the stay authorisation itself is decided in Spain and can take up to around 2 months. Add time for the Apostille and sworn translations, and remember the medical certificate and Bulletin n°3 expire within 3 months.
