May 2025 reform — RD 1155/2024
The official Casablanca checklist is dated January 2025 — before the reform came into force (20 May 2025). It still frames the passport as "valid for the study period" and uses the 2024 IPREM label. Where they differ, RD 1155/2024 prevails: your passport must be valid for at least 1 year from the application date; your acceptance letter must confirm tuition has been paid in full at an authorised (Instituto Cervantes / SIELE / SACIC-accredited) school; you must show funds of 100% IPREM = €600.00/month (€7,200/year, frozen 2023–2026); and health insurance must come from a Spanish DGSFP-authorised insurer. The IPREM figure of €600.00 is unchanged, so that number is still correct even where the page labels it "2024".
Provinces under Casablanca Consulate General jurisdiction
You may apply through BLS Casablanca only if you reside in one of the provinces below. If your province isn't listed, you apply at the Spanish post for your region of residence, not the nearest one geographically.
Not on this list? Spain also has Consulates General in Rabat, Tánger, Tetuán, Nador and Agadir, each with its own demarcation. Confirm your jurisdiction on exteriores.gob.es before filing — you must apply where you reside.
Document checklist (study visa)
Based on the official Casablanca "Requisitos Visado Estudios" checklist (last updated January 2025). For full-time study lasting more than 90 days. Bring originals and photocopies of every document.

2 national visa application forms + 2 photos
Two completed and signed national visa forms, plus two recent passport photographs (3×4 cm, white background).

Valid passport + copy
The checklist states the passport must be valid for at least the duration of the studies. The reform prevails: it must be valid for at least 1 year from the application date. Include a photocopy.
Show both readings at filing: the January 2025 checklist says "valid for the study period", but RD 1155/2024 requires ≥1 year. Confirm the exact requirement at filing.

CIN + family book (livret de famille) copy
Copy of your Moroccan national ID card (CIN) and of the family book.

Moroccan residence permit (non-Moroccan residents)
If you are not a Moroccan national, show a valid Moroccan residence permit proving you live in the Casablanca jurisdiction.

School acceptance letter + proof of PAID tuition
From an authorised (Instituto Cervantes / SIELE / SACIC-accredited) school. The checklist is explicit: "without payment of tuition, the visa will not be released". A letter confirming admission or a deposit only is not sufficient (RD 1155/2024).

Proof of funds — 100% IPREM
You must show 100% IPREM = €600.00/month (€7,200/year) for the duration of your stay. This figure is frozen at €600.00 for 2023–2026.

Criminal record certificate Stays over 180 days & age over 16
Bulletin n°3, obtainable via casierjudiciaire.justice.gov.ma. Must be issued no more than 3 months before the application, cover every country you have lived in over the last 5 years, and be apostilled + sworn-translated into Spanish.

Medical certificate Stays over 180 days & age over 16
Issued no more than 3 months before filing, from a doctor on the consulate's approved-doctor list, and containing the standard wording of the 2005 International Health Regulations (no disease posing a public-health risk).

Proof of accommodation in Spain
A hotel reservation, signed lease, or a letter from the school confirming your accommodation address.
Use a MAEC-accredited sworn (jurado) translator. Local translation agencies are commonly rejected by Spanish consulates. Every foreign document must carry both the Apostille and the sworn Spanish translation.
Apostille + sworn translation — the correct sequence
Morocco is a Hague Apostille country. For the academic diploma, criminal record and medical certificate, follow this exact order:

Obtain the original document
Criminal record = Bulletin n°3 via casierjudiciaire.justice.gov.ma. Medical certificate from a doctor on the consulate's approved list. Diploma from your issuing institution.

Get the Hague Apostille
In Morocco the competent authorities are the King's Public Prosecutor at the Court of Cassation, prosecutors at the courts of first instance, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Justice, and the walis / governors of prefectures and provinces.

Sworn Spanish translation
Have the apostilled document translated by a MAEC-accredited sworn (jurado) translator into Spanish.

Submit
Original + Apostille + sworn Spanish translation, plus photocopies. The criminal record and medical certificate must be no more than 3 months old at submission.
Filing at BLS "Casa 4"
- Since 1 December 2025, student-visa applicants file at BLS "Casa 4" without a prior appointment, Monday to Friday
- The centre accepts a maximum of 50 files per day — arrive early, as the daily quota can fill quickly
- National-visa information and forms are at morocco.blsspainvisa.com; BLS handles the filing, the consulate does not complete the form for you
- Children under 12 are no longer accepted at the BLS Casablanca centre
- Book only through the official BLS channel — never pay third parties for access
- Bring originals and photocopies of every document, sorted in the checklist order
Fee discrepancy — confirm at filing. The official study-visa checklist states the fee is 926 MAD; a separate Casablanca national-visa page shows 881 MAD. Both are official; the amount is paid in dirhams. Bring the higher figure and confirm the exact amount at filing.
Processing, visa validity and the TIE
The stay authorisation is decided by the Extranjería office in Spain, which has 30 days to decide (in practice this can take up to around two months). Once a favourable stay authorisation is granted, the consulate issues the visa within 1 month.
For stays of more than 6 months, the visa is valid for 365 days. After arriving in Spain you must apply for your TIE (foreigner's identity card) within 30 days of arrival at the provincial police station.

My passport is only valid for the length of my course. Is that enough? +

Do I need the criminal record and medical certificate for a short course? +
Only for stays of more than 180 days, and only if you are over 16. Both must be issued within the last 3 months, apostilled, and sworn-translated into Spanish. The criminal record (Bulletin n°3) must cover every country you have lived in over the last 5 years.
Does my acceptance letter need to prove I've paid the tuition? +
Yes. The Casablanca checklist is explicit that without proof of paid tuition the visa will not be released. A letter confirming admission or a deposit only is not sufficient. Your school must confirm the tuition is paid in full.
How early should I apply? +
Apply 3–4 months before your course start date. The stay authorisation is decided in Spain (up to around two months), and the consulate then issues the visa within 1 month. Start the criminal-record and legalisation chain first — it has the longest lead time. Time-sensitive documents (criminal record, medical certificate) expire after 3 months, so don't prepare them too early.
